A free to use professional editing software we generally recommend is DaVinci Resolve. It does generally require a robust computer processor to deal with more advanced features, but is a fully fledged editing suite. The only reason you would need to pay for the Studio version is if you’re gearing up to make a full on festival film.

If you’re looking for a better way to record yourself through webcam or external camera, while also doing screen capture or even running multiple videos in the background, OBS Studio is OPEN SOURCE, the holy grail of free to use. OBS can be slightly daunting at first look, but there are a plethora of youtube videos covering setup, should you need additional help.
If DaVinci Resolve ends up being a bit heavy for the videos you wish to edit, an open source video option is OpenShot. This software runs on anything including linux, and has a very similar interface to Final Cut.
Another open source option with a solid community to help figure it out.
