Political Science Research Guide

Use this guide to find UNO library resources and other helpful research tools.

The online reference collection

You may have occasion to look at dictionaries, encyclopedias, quotation books, subject handbooks, and other resources that libraries typically keep in a Reference Collection. The library subscribes to Literati by Credo Reference, a fast-growing database that includes over 600 reference books. Literati also generates topical searches that link into a number of the library's article databases.

RefWorks and writing assistance

RefWorks is a web-based bibliography manager that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from text files, library databases, and other sources.  RefWorks can help you format citations for a reference list; save article information (including database links), so that you can get back to articles quickly; and maintain a record of sources you have consulted.

There is a learning curve to mastering RefWorks, but many students and faculty find it an invaluable resource.  A number of helpful video tutorials are available on YouTube.
