Building your scholarly profile

A guide to developing your scholarly profile and increasing your presence online.

Name

Check what is online about you. Is the information that is out there consistent with your scholarly profile? With the exception of a legal name change, the name you choose for your professional body of work should be consistent. For instance, if you have a name that could take on many variations (e.g. Daniel Edward Jenkins could be Daniel E. Jenkins, Dan Jenkins, Danny Jenkins, D. E. Jenkins), choose the one with which you most identify. Whether you choose a formal or informal variation of your name, maintain the way you refer yourself for all your published works as this will increase your discoverability.
