Finding Foreign Language Books

To find foreign language books use the Catalog's Advanced Search.

Enter your search terms in the first set of boxes. Or if you want to search for all possible books in that language place an * (asterisk) in the keyword search field.

Change the Format to Book and use the dropdown menu for Language to select your desired language. You may use the other options to search a specific date range, find books for young adults, or find fiction by using the Content field.

Catalog Search Tips

WorldCat Local Search Tips:

  • Use phrase searching for more exact searching, i.e. "Writer's Market"

  • Select one of the options in the left-hand column "Refine Your Search" to narrow your search by Author, Format, Year, Content, and other criteria.

  • To search for variations of a word, enter at least three letters of the terms followed by a question mark (?) or asterisk (*) For example, politi? or politi* retrieves records that contain politics or political.

  • You can change the order of books to relevance only, or have them arranged by oldest or newest publication date or alphabetical order.

  • Use the Advanced Search to search by author, title, or subject and to limit by language, format, date or date range

  • When using searches with AND/OR be sure to use ALL CAPS.
