Military and Veteran Library Resources

For our military-affiliated students: here's what you can find at the library.

Places to Study

Group study room

The library has 29 single and group study rooms for three-hour reservation for UNO students only.

Single study rooms are snug spaces with a desk and chair, whiteboard, and network connection.

Group study rooms have a large table and chairs, a computer with a big screen monitor, and whiteboards.

All study rooms have windows in the doors. Some group study rooms have glass walls looking out into the library, while others have half-height walls.

Places to Relax

There are plenty of places out in the open or tucked away to relax at the library.

We have a Library Cafe on premises, and inside you'll even hear the squeal of the espresso machine!

You can sit in a booth, at an open table, in a soft chair, or on a couch on any floor of the library. Ask at the front desk if you're looking for a particular vibe or noise level.

Dependent children are welcome in the library!

Ask at the front desk about children's books, games, iPads for checkout, or DVDs suitable for children. Book a group study room and everyone will have plenty of room to work and play.

Criss Library facilities are designed for use by members of the campus community. Criss Library welcomes children of the community who are sufficiently mature enough to not disturb others when accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.

The safety and security of children is particularly important and is the responsibility of the parent or adult caregiver. Criss Library is open to the public, a situation that can present risks to children. Library staff do not assume responsibility for a child's safety and comfort when they are unattended.

  • Any children 16 and under must be under the direct supervision of an adult who assumes responsibility for them while in the library.
  • Parents and adults must monitor all activities and behavior of their children while they are in the library and are responsible for any damage to property done by the child.
  • UNO students, faculty, and staff have priority use of computers.
  • If a child is left unattended in the library, or in the event of an emergency situation, staff will notify campus security.

The Writing Center at Criss Library

The Writing Center has an annex in Criss Library. Make an online appointment to work with a consultant and meet them here at the library.

Creative Production Lab

The Criss Library Creative Production Lab (CPL) operates on the principle that all UNO affiliates and external community members should have access to means of multimedia production and professional guidance to achieve their creative and professional vision.

UNO students, faculty, staff have full access to all services. Large format printing is restricted to projects associated with active classes, UNO activities, conferences, and other media with direct academic association. Student technology fees are our main operational budget, and student success will be given top priority for resources, time and access to available technology.

Active military personnel are allowed full access to the facility (with current military ID). They can request a login from the main desk, but will have to set up reservations with staff. This only pertains to active members of the military; veterans would need to sign up to be a Friend of the Library/Alumni Association member to access the facility.

You may also visit the Do Space at Abrahams Library near 90th and Fort for access to more technology.
