About ProQuest

ProQuest databases cover a wide range of topics including business, science and technology, social sciences, and historical documents. ProQuest is less useful for the humanities unless you are doing historical research. ProQuest databases include full text content, but not every article will be available.

Entering keywords

ProQuest databases at UNO Libraries are set up to land on the advanced search screen. The search function allows for all Boolean operators (AND, OR, and NOT), however ProQuest databases are set up so that AND is the default selection between each word. It is not necessary to use AND when conducting a search.

Search results

ProQuest searches both the record and the full text of the article, so searches will return a lot of results. You should be as specific as possible when searching ProQuest databases. Or you can try limiting your search to subjects, the title, or the abstract. Use the dropdown options to select where you would like to search. To search the full record, but not the full text select the "Anywhere except full text" option.

The more limited search significantly reduces the number of hits returned.
