A complete collection of all patron-facing policies concerning the use and access to the CPL.

Restrictions on CPL Use for Profit

Businesses, Commissions, and Profit Enterprises

CPL services are not available for commissioned work and for-profit enterprises. Reservations will not be made on behalf of any commercial group for any of our services. The CPL is available on a limited priority basis for short tours or informational questions as time and availability permits.

CPL staff will not engage in labor nor material utilization on behalf of for-profit enterprises, nor allow the exploitation of UNO student labor as proxy towards access of CPL equipment, software, or facilities for the purposes of commercial business practice or profit enterprises.

Private entities seeking to use CPL equipment or services on behalf of commercial business practice or to defray the costs of personal business operations will be barred from the facility.

While CPL services exist to enable the creative professional endeavors of the UNO academic community, mass production of goods for resale or the preparation of elements intended for commercial production where CPL materials, state-owned equipment, or staff labor-time is involved is prohibited.

Where this becomes questionable, patrons will be asked to showcase academic linkage for project requests through an active course, university department directive, university sponsored event, or graduation-required portfolio development.

The CPL should be considered a site for the preparation of a personal multimedia portfolio and creative experimentation within the confines of a publicly-funded, state-owned, and state-operated academic institution.
